When you get right down to it, riding is what we’re all about. Whether it’s riding for fun, commuting, supporting a charity, seeing how fast/far you can go or just to enjoy the scenery, we all love to get out and get our wheels spinning. Participating in a club ride will help you become a better rider and will likely take you to some wonderful locations that you’ve never been to before….even if they’re in your own backyard.

First, get familiar with ride classifications and check out the ride calendar for an upcoming ride that meets your skills/comfort level or perhaps challenge yourself by picking a slightly more difficult ride. Who knows, before you know it, you may be leading a ride.

June Announcements

Hello,

The Spring Picnic and Bike ride took place last weekend on a picture-perfect day.  We are planning a similar event for the Fall Picnic on September 9 that will include road routes and trail options.

Some of you may know Danny Chew, there is a fundraiser for him on Saturday June 17.

The WPW Board has finalized the logo and jersey designs.  We are working towards kit items to offer and online ordering information will be announced soon with a deadline to order by early July so that we can have orders delivered by the Fall Rally.

WPW members enjoyed a bike ride to West Virginia led by Chuck.  The views were absolutely amazing.  And as promised, the roads had almost no traffic and there were plenty of hills!  To get a sense of what we got to experience, check out the video summary.
In addition to our regular weekly rides on the WPW calendar, please take note of the rides listed below.  Want to see a certain kind of ride on the calendar?  Drop me an email and we can try to coordinate it.
Best regards,
Monica

2016 WPW Ride Season Begins

Lance Kennelty : 03/13/2016 7:52 am : Events, From the Pres, Rides, Sponsors, Uncategorized

Welcome all WPW Members,

I am looking forward to riding with you this season.  Because of our mild winter riding has already started.  I see new rides being posted on our calendar daily.  This is terrific!
In the coming days please look for a message from me with an invitation to join our new RideWithGPS Club page.  RideWithGPS Club is a new member-only benefit to help us organize, schedule, and lead rides.
To show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of scheduling and leading rides the club would like to extend a free 2017 membership to any current member for leading 5 or more rides this season.  Rides must be scheduled using our WPW calendar and all the rules for leading rides must be followed including timeliness, courtesy to new riders, safety, following all rules of the road, and using our sign-in sheet with a club insurance liability waiver.
We recognize that people choose to join a club based on the types of rides that fit their schedules, needs, and abilities.  If you don’t find the exact ride you are looking for please consider becoming a ride leader.  Our volunteer efforts have increased this year but we need your help to run our club.  Please consider volunteering your time to help us help you become the rider you would like to be.
There has been a renewed interest in our club and its relationship to our community.  Please look for a email message from me in the next few days asking you to participate in a poll about the club.  We will use this data to help guide the club in the future by finding out what our members opinions are.
Have a great season and I look forward to seeing everyone out there!
-Lance
