  • WPW jerseys and vests: With the newly designed logo, we have been working with Primal to create new club jerseys and vests.  These can be ordered online from now until July 13, 2017 at midnight MST at which point the online store closes.  Here are the details:
    • Each member will pay for their garments at the time of ordering. Mens-cut or womens-cut jerseys are $70 and vests are $66.
    • These are custom jerseys and take time for Primal to produce.
    • The club will get a bulk delivery just prior to Fall Rally in early September.
    • This single bulk delivery option saves each member and the club a $10 per item shipping charge as shipping is free for this single bulk delivery method.
    • If you have led (or plan to lead) 5+ rides this year, please contact me about special ordering instructions as a ride leader appreciation.
To place an order, please follow the link below to create an account or login if you already have an account with Primal Custom Pro.

June Announcements

Monica VanDieren : 06/13/2017 7:49 am : From the Pres, Rides, Uncategorized
The Spring Picnic and Bike ride took place last weekend on a picture-perfect day.  We are planning a similar event for the Fall Picnic on September 9 that will include road routes and trail options.
Some of you may know Danny Chew, there is a fundraiser for him on Saturday June 17.
The WPW Board has finalized the logo and jersey designs.  We are working towards kit items to offer and online ordering information will be announced soon with a deadline to order by early July so that we can have orders delivered by the Fall Rally.
WPW members enjoyed a bike ride to West Virginia led by Chuck.  The views were absolutely amazing.  And as promised, the roads had almost no traffic and there were plenty of hills!  To get a sense of what we got to experience, check out the video summary.
In addition to our regular weekly rides on the WPW calendar, please take note of the rides listed below.  Want to see a certain kind of ride on the calendar?  Drop me an email and we can try to coordinate it.

WPW 2017 Updates and Call for Volunteers

Monica VanDieren : 01/15/2017 10:10 am : From the Pres, Uncategorized

I hope you all got to enjoy the 60 degree day we had on Thursday!  It got me looking forward to the 2017 cycling season.

First looking back on the 2016 season, I would like to thank the 2016 leadership team for their great work organizing WPW traditions, but also making strides moving the club forward with the establishment of a Ride with GPS account, updated webpage, expanding the number of rides all around the region, and taking steps to a new club logo and jersey design. In particular I would like to individually thank and recognize the following club members:
  • Steph Burch for leading the Dirty Dozen Training rides and providing invaluable advice for climbing those hills
  • Bob Vano, who served as a Ride Captain in 2016 and helped to organize the very successful Fall and Spring Rallies
  • Jim Logan who has organized the Icicle Bicycle and Ride of Silence for many years.
It is the volunteers like these that make the club what is.  We have several volunteer opportunities and vacancies this year and you can help!
Our first WPW Board Business Meeting of the year will take place on Tues Jan 31 at 7:30pm at Claddaugh Irish Pub, 407 Cinema Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15203 (with an optional dinner and/or drink starting at 6:30.  Find the menu and pricing here.) The agenda includes:
  •     Treasurer and membership report
  •     2016 Rider Milage and Survey report
  •     Icicle Bicycle recap
  •     Volunteer vacancies and opportunities
  •     Jersey and new logo update
  •     BikePGH report
  •     Fall and Spring Rally planning
  •     Car-pooling to out of town rides (e.g. Pedal the Lakes, Mon Valley Century, etc.)
  •     Other 2017 season planning
All members are welcome to attend the board meeting  (and pre-meeting gathering).  If you cannot make the board meeting and are interested in volunteering, please email us.
Finally, I would like to introduce to you the other 2017 WPW Officers and Board:
Vice President:  Sarah Quesen
Treasurer: Bryan Schmersal
Secretary: De’Anna Caligiuri
Board Members:

  • Al Gaburri
  • Dave Bialoksky
  • Dave Lampe (Pittsburgh Randonneurs)
  • Dave Kasperek
  • Kim Brumbaugh (Membership)
  • Jim Logan
  • Mikhail Evstiounin
We welcome any comments or suggestions as well as your volunteer time to improve the club.
Best regards,
Monica VanDieren
WPW President
